The Data Lab – Video Licence Agreement
- By providing us (The University Court of the University of Edinburgh in its capacity as The Data Lab) (“we”, “us”, “our”) with your video contribution (the “Contribution”) in response to our call for video submissions for DataTech 2021, you agree to these terms.
- You hereby grant to us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty free, non-exclusive licence to all intellectual property rights in the Contribution for any purposes in relation to The Data Lab’s events, education and marketing activities. We may use and publish for such purposes the Contribution, your name and details about you (e.g. your job title). This may include, but is not limited to, displaying the Contribution as part of our events or publishing the Contribution on our websites. You agree that we shall be entitled to edit, copy, add to or adapt the Contribution, at our discretion (acting reasonably).
- We shall not use the Contribution in any way which we consider would be likely to damage your reputation.
- As the Contribution may be posted online, you acknowledge and accept that visitors of our websites may be able to access the Contribution and may use this for their own purposes. We cannot control and shall not be liable for the use by third parties of the Contribution.
- We have no obligation to use or publish the Contribution in any way.
- We shall comply with the requirements of all legislation and regulatory requirements in force from time to time relating to the use of personal data. This paragraph is in addition to, and does not reduce, remove or replace, our obligations arising from such requirements. We will process your personal data in accordance with the privacy notice at https://www.thedatalab.com/privacy-policy/.
- You warrant and undertake that:
- you are fully entitled to agree to these terms and to grant all rights set out in these terms and have the legal capacity to freely do so;
- you are at least 18 years old;
- the Contribution will (i) to the best of your knowledge and belief be genuine and truthful and (ii) will not infringe the copyright or any other right of any third party or breach any contract or duty of confidence, data protection law or be defamatory or blasphemous; and
- you acknowledge and accept that we shall not be liable for any loss, damage or injury suffered by you in connection with our use of the Contribution other than that which cannot be lawfully excluded.
- Any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be governed by the laws of Scotland and the courts of Scotland shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim.
